Adviser Education Assessment Service (AEAS)
Monday, 11 May 2009
The AEAS helps Licensees and advisers to review the currency of their existing knowledge and effectively target continuing training and education plans.
Our object is to make it easy for you to build an effective training plan that meets your ongoing licensing requirements and educational needs.
ASIC RG146 requires licensees to have an annual training plan for each representative that assesses training needs, identifies gaps or weaknesses, assesses outcomes of continuing education and provides relevant feedback.
It consists of distinct assessments that review current understanding of a range of issues relevant to the provision of advice in the relevant sectors. Assessments are currently available for the following four specialist knowledge categories of ASIC Regulatory Guide (RG146):
- Managed Investments;
- Superannuation;
- Life Insurance (Risk); and
- Self managed Super Funds (SMSF).

To implement the AEAS for a group of representatives follow these three simple steps:
- Identify the group of representatives that you would like to assess;
- Select the specialist categories in which you would like assessments to be conducted; and
- Determine the time frame within which require the assessment analysis.
Analysis of assessment results is used to provide licensees with detailed reporting on the identified training needs for the group across and within each of hte specialist categories.
A sample assessment report is available. To download a sample report, click here
Licensees are also able to discuss the outcomes of the assessments and the findings of the report with our technical education team.
